Motorcycle Helmets

Riding a motorbike is a potential hazardous activity and a number of bikers are seriously injured on Britain 's roads every year. Because of this motorcycle helmets must be worn by all people riding a motorcycle by law. Penalties for riding without appropriate protection can sometimes be quite severe, so it is important to ensure you are wearing an appropriate motorcycle helmet when riding. However, the fact that not wearing one is illegal should not be the motivating factor for wearing motorcycle helmets, as they are a vital piece of protective equipment that can prevent a serious motorcycle crash from becoming a fatal one.

Motorcycle helmets are readily available from all motorcycle dealers and stockist of protective biking gear. There are many different types of motorcycle helmets available that are suited to different applications. The most commonly used type is the full faced helmet that is typically worn by people who ride their bikes on tarmac roads. These motorcycle helmets are always worn by professional motorcycle racers.

However there are other types of helmets available too, some of which are designed for use in motorsports such as motocross. Open faced motorcycle helmets are available too, although they do not offer a level of protection anywhere near that of a full faced helmet and as such they are not appropriate for wearing on powerful bikes. Modular motorcycle helmets are available that combine all the protection of a full faced helmet with the convenience of an open faced helmet.
